Tina LaChapelle, Ph.D.
Survey Researcher
I’m a quantitative social scientist who’s passionate about technology, data, and politics. My area of expertise centers on survey research methods, with a particular emphasis on conducting surveys online using non-probability samples. I hold a Ph.D. in Political Science from Duke University.
I’m currently a research associate in the Polarization Lab at Duke. We are building a social media/LLM research tool that helps us investigate which platform features improve user engagement and make online conversations less toxic. I’m also affiliated with the Duke Initiative on Survey Methodology, where I offer guidance to clients on their survey projects.
Prior to graduate school, I interned at public opinion/political consulting firms in Washington DC. I credit my time with Pew Research Center, Lake Research Partners, and Jones Mandel for kickstarting my interest in survey research and data.
Born in the UK 🇬🇧, I am now based in North Carolina 🇺🇸. My proudest accomplishment in life is getting certified as a PADI scuba diver!
